Mapei Eco Prim T Plus Universal Acrylic Primer

Mapei Eco Prim T Plus is a high-performance, low-odour acrylic primer designed to prepare and stabilise a wide range of internal substrates before the installation of levelling compounds, adhesives, and floor finishes. Manufactured by , this versatile primer is ideal for use within both electrical underfloor heating and wet underfloor heating floor build-ups.

Formulated to improve adhesion and control substrate porosity, Eco Prim T Plus helps create a reliable, professional base for subsequent layers, ensuring long-lasting performance and reducing the risk of installation issues.

Key Features and Benefits

• Universal acrylic primer suitable for a wide range of absorbent and non-absorbent substrates
• Improves adhesion of smoothing compounds, tile adhesives and floor coverings
• Reduces and regulates surface porosity for consistent curing
• Low odour and low VOC formulation - suitable for internal environments
• Ready-to-use liquid for easy application
• Fast drying to support efficient project turnaround
• Suitable for professional tradespeople and competent DIY installers

Suitable Applications and Compatibility

Mapei Eco Prim T Plus is designed for internal floor preparation prior to installing:

• Floor levelling and smoothing compounds
• Tile adhesives
• Resilient floor coverings such as vinyl and LVT
• Engineered wood and other bonded floor finishes

It can be used on common subfloors including concrete, sand and cement screeds, calcium sulphate screeds, existing tiles, stone, and other suitably prepared surfaces. It is particularly well suited to subfloors incorporating underfloor heating systems, where strong bond strength and stable surface preparation are critical.

Role In Underfloor Heating

Within an underfloor heating installation, correct subfloor preparation is essential to ensure efficient heat transfer and long-term floor performance. Eco Prim T Plus plays a key role by:

• Enhancing the bond between the subfloor and levelling compound covering heating pipes or heating cables
• Minimising air bubbles and pinholes in smoothing layers
• Supporting even curing across heated areas
• Helping to prevent delamination caused by thermal movement

Whether used above wet underfloor heating pipework embedded in screed or over electrical underfloor heating mats prior to encapsulation, this primer helps create a stable and reliable base for the finished floor.

Guidance

Ensure substrates are clean, dry, sound and free from dust, grease, laitance or loose material before application. Apply evenly by roller or brush in accordance with manufacturer instructions. Allow the primer to dry fully before applying levelling compounds or adhesives.

Underfloor heating systems should be commissioned and tested in line with industry guidance before floor preparation begins, and heating should remain off during application and curing unless otherwise specified by the system manufacturer.

Technical Overview

• Water-based acrylic primer
