Why do I need a shower waste? Also known as a shower trap, shower wastes help keep your shower clean and hygienic by draining the shower water into external sewage systems. An unreliable shower waste can create puddles of dirty water, leaking, and unpleasant smells. A shower waste works by retaining a certain amount of water, which seals off the gases from the sewer, preventing them from entering your bathroom. When using your shower, the shower water will flow into the drainage creating a vacuum, and slowing down the water's entrance to the drain. The drain should also be vented allowing water to flow freely. Without venting, water may back siphon.
