Polypipe Polybutylene Barrier Pipe - 15mm is a high-quality system suitable for a wide range of applications. With its superior strength and durability, this pipe can handle working pressures of up to 12 bar at 20 degrees centigrade (or 6 bar at 90 degrees centigrade), making it suitable for demanding environments. When it comes to installation, the Polypipe Barrier Pipe offers flexibility. It can be bent to a radius of 12 times the diameter when unsupported or 8 times the diameter when supported, allowing for versatile and efficient routing. The connections and fittings of the system are rigorously tested to BS 7291: Class S standards, ensuring thermal cycling resilience, long-term pressure resistance, rapid pressure testing, and reliable pull-out strength. The Polypipe Barrier Pipe is designed to withstand a wide range of temperatures. It undergoes rigorous testing according to BS 7291, including pressurized thermal cycling and exposure to temperatures of 114 degrees centigrade at 3.5 bar pressure for 1,000 cycles. This ensures its durability and performance even under challenging conditions. It is important to note that the Polypipe system is not suitable for the transportation of gases. The standard Polyplumb pipe is oxygen permeable, making it suitable for domestic water and heating installations. To minimize the risk of oxygen ingress, especially in floor central heating systems, Polypipe recommends using barrier pipe throughout underfloor heating applications. The Polyplumb pipes and fittings are approved by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) and comply with WRC standards. The material is resistant to scale build-up, ensuring long-term reliability. While short-term chlorination and normal chlorine levels in UK domestic water supplies do not adversely affect Polyplumb, it is not recommended for systems with high chlorine concentrations, such as those used in swimming pools.UV protection is important for the Polypipe system, as it should be shielded from direct sunlight. Standard decorating paints or pipe insulation can provide sufficient protection for external use.The Polyplumb system excels in acoustic performance, minimizing noise transmission and water hammer effects compared to rigid pipe systems. As Polyplumb pipe does not conduct electricity, fewer equipotential bonding requirements are typically needed compared to metal systems. However, guidelines from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IEE) and the Institute of Physics (IoP) should be followed for proper earth bonding. In cases where Polyplumb interrupts the continuity of existing metal pipes used for earthing or bonding, it is necessary to reinstate this continuity by affixing permanent earth clips and a section of earth cable between the ends of the copper pipe.Polypipe assures users that there are no known side-effects from handling or using Polyplumb, ensuring peace of mind during installation and use.Jointing the Polyplumb system involves six stages for successful connections. These instructions are applicable for hot and cold water or heating applications, including floor heating. Cutting the Polyplumb pipe should be done with approved pipe cutters (such as PB777 or PB778) to ensure precise and clean cuts. The use of pipe stiffeners is essential when using Polyplumb pipe with Polyplumb or compression fittings, ensuring a secure and reliable joint.SpecificationsMaterial: PolybutyleneLength: 100mColour: GreySupplied in a coil in heavy duty plastic bagOutside Diameter: 15mmSuitable for all plumbing and heating applications as a flexible alternative to copper tubeSuitable in both hard and soft water areas. Our Barrier Pipes are tested DIN 4726 and DIN 4727Manufactured in accordance with BS EN ISO 9002 (BSI registered firm Certificate FM00318)WRAS approvedKIWA/KOMO approved (Certificate numbers K14341, 14342 and 14343)Polyplumb manufactured by PolypipeBBA Certified - Polyplumb polybutylene barrier pipe, fittings and accessories are covered by BBA Certificate Number 00/3699.
